Blister Inspection System By PC Based Machine Vision

Customer

R & D project.

Goal

This R&D project which was developed for a medicine company. It was aimed to make the inspections for blisters and the medicine in them in order to prevent the empty blisters and the blisters which has a wrong or broken pills from being packaged and sent to the patients.

Design and Technology

The analisys of the samples provided by the medicine company in the light of the past information and technologies. It was decided that this project can be produced by PC based machine vision.

NIn our R&D experiences in the labaratory an analog Camera is used but it was exposed that the digital and progressive scan cameras are more suitable.
This necessity appeared because of the high production capasity and line speed. The analog frame grabber in the experiments is replaced by the digital frame grabber in the application.

In the experiments done by using the frame grabbers and LabVIEW programming language of the National instruments, colored (örüntü) recognition and morfologic analyses techniques is used to do the inspections in the GOAL section.

Solution

First blister orientation inspection made ( If it is needed ) on the blister image taken from the camera. After that the medicine is searched in a bounded blister and the found medicine's is determined to be in the right coordinates or not. Considering the fact that the medicine are in the form of capsule, oval, capsule, it was decided to use colored (örüntü) recognition method. In the result of morfologyc operations on the found (örüntü)s, it is determined that whether the medicine is broken or not.

Result

This project, which is produced for medicine sector, which is a very developed sector in Turkey, finished with success but the foreign licencing company forced them to buy the solution from an another foreign company.

This R&D project is waiting in our database as finished and ready to use.
