Thread Detection on Metal Disc

Part Description: Metal 2-1/4 in. diameter disc.

Industry: Automotive

Inspection Type: Presence/Absence

Summary: The object of this inspection is to detect thread presence on the four outer holes of a metal disc. A large hole is centered on the disc with four smaller holes surrounding it. The part was analyzed against a white background with the 820 sensor head targeted at the center hole of the part. The sensor head was positioned at a 45 degree decline, 9 in. from the target area. An elliptical FeatureCount softsensor was used to detect the threads. Vertical and horizontal translational SoftSensors were used to compensate for movement. The threading on the outer holes showed high levels of contrast, enough to ensure reliable inspections.
