Package
Flap Inspection
Part
Description:Cardboard box.
Industry:Packaging
Inspection Type:Presence/Absence
Summary
The customer needed to verify that all of the flaps on the package
were folded in to ensure good packaging of the product. If a flap
was not folded in correctly then the contents of the package could
be damaged or the box itself could be ripped. The solution for this
was fairly easy. A 5mm lens and a red led array were employed. The
set up was at about a 45 degree angle to the box. This allowed for
all flaps to be seen at once. Four intensity tools were used for the
inspection. One for the top flap, one for the bottom flap, and the
last two were for the side flaps. The pass/fail criteria was based
upon the change in the bright area. A low bright area meant no flaps
were present and a high bright area meant flaps were present.
