Goal

To measure and analysis the force which applyed dust of medicine while pressing tablet with Medicine Pressing Machine which used in the Pharmacist Sector.

Design and Technology:

PCB Piezotronics' Dynamic force sensor was used to measure the force. This srensor was connected to a National Instruments' Multifunction Data acquisition board via a proper connector block.Analysis software was developed using LabView 6.i programming environment.

Solution:

Upper and lower clamps were designed to make sensors suitably work with the machine. one dynamic force sensor was mounted to the upper clamp and one was mounted to the lower clamp. By upper clamp,the compression force was measured and by the lower clamp , the frictional force against the force to push out the tablet which was inside module. was measured. Chemical compounds mixed with dust of medicine had been effected the structure of tablet and the friction force appeared between tablet and surface while it was being pushed outside the module. As a result of analysing those forces , Critical datas were recorded to define the amount of additional substances to dust of medicine .

Result:

This project was the first application in Pharmaceutical area in Turkey. This Force measurement system which was offered optionally in Tablet presisng machines produced in foreign countries was adapted to a tablet pressing machine in a university laboratory for a scientific purpose . By using such technologies ,it is possible to modernize workbenches and machines by implementing our modern automation solutions , Hence both the value of machine and its efficiency increases
